FUTURES
Welcome
from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Woman’s University — the intellectual
heart of the largest public university system with a woman-focused mission.
Every day, I witness the transformative power of education through our extraordinary students,
faculty, and staff. Whether exploring the human condition through literature and history or
pushing the boundaries of innovation in science and technology, our students are developing
the curiosity, creativity, and courage to lead in an ever-changing world.
At TWU, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Students engage in faculty-mentored
research, community-based learning, and cross-disciplinary projects that prepare them to
think critically, communicate effectively, and act ethically. Our graduates emerge not just
career-ready, but world-ready.
As we celebrate 125 years of TWU, we invite you to join us in shaping the future. Your generosity
helps us elevate lives through education and create lasting impact in Texas and beyond. Thank
you for considering an investment in our students and programs.

Where Discovery Meets Purpose
Since 1901, Texas Woman’s University has embraced the motto
“Learn by Doing.” At the College of Arts & Sciences, that spirit
drives everything we do.
As TWU’s largest and most diverse academic unit — with
over 3,700 students and 40+ academic programs, CAS is the
largest and most diverse college at TWU. Your support helps
us ensure every student — first-gen, transfer, returning — has
access to hands-on, high-impact learning that transforms
futures.

From aeronautical sciences to social work, fashion design to
molecular biology, our students graduate with the skills to
think critically, act compassionately, and lead with integrity.
They pursue careers in public policy, scientific research, the
arts, nonprofit leadership, and Fortune 500 companies —
prepared not just for jobs, but for lives of purpose.
At the core of TWU’s mission to elevate student prosperity,
the College of Arts & Sciences delivers foundational learning,
fosters global citizenship, and equips students to address
society’s most pressing challenges.
At TWU, discovery isn’t confined to a lab or lecture hall. It’s
woven into every moment of learning, service, and growth.
Learning That Leads
At TWU’s College of Arts and Sciences, students don’t just learn in classrooms—— they learn by doing.
Through hands-on experiences that stretch from global fashion runways to grassroots
community action, our students are applying their knowledge, building confidence, and
shaping the future.

Fashion on the World Stage
From Paris runways to exclusive fashion houses, TWU
fashion students are immersing themselves in the heart
of the global fashion industry. These experiences give
students a front-row seat to innovation and design,
preparing them to lead in a competitive field with style
and confidence.
Advocacy in Action
At the Texas Capitol Takeover, TWU social work students
joined peers from across the state to meet legislators,
raise awareness, and advocate for causes that matter
to our communities. This signature Advocacy Day
experience empowers students to use their voices for
real change.
Science That Serves
TWU’s award-winning Kappa Epsilon Mu (KEM)
Chemistry Club is bringing science to life for the
community. From hosting chemistry magic shows in
local schools to leading Green Chemistry Day at TWU for
high school students, KEM members inspire curiosity
while giving back.
Cultivating Community
Outside the lab, TWU students also engage in
sustainability projects, such as volunteering in the Dr.
Bettye Myers Butterfly Garden. Their efforts support
monarch butterflies and other pollinators vital to the
North Texas ecosystem, demonstrating how science and
stewardship go hand in hand.
Together, these experiences show how TWU students
turn learning into leadership, knowledge into action,
and passion into impact.

Fueling Innovative Research
At TWU’s College of Arts & Sciences, innovation begins with students who ask big questions
and create bold solutions. From laboratories to studios, and journals to murals, our students are
making discoveries and creating work that matters.
Mini Brains, Major Insights
Working alongside Dr. Zane Lybrand,
students are using mini brain organoid
models to study traumatic brain injury.
These cutting-edge models allow students
to explore new ways of understanding
brain health and recovery, preparing them
to contribute to future breakthroughs in
neuroscience and medicine.
Printing Possibilities
With the help of 3D printing technology,
TWU students are designing and building
prostheses for children. This hands-on work
combines creativity and compassion, giving
students the chance to apply engineering
skills to improve lives in tangible, lifechanging
ways.

Creating Beauty Around Us
From the stained-glass windows of TWU’s
historic Little Chapel-in-the-Woods to the
newest mural on campus, students are
leaving their artistic mark on the university.
These projects remind us that research and
learning don’t just live in labs or classrooms —
they can also create beauty that enriches our
community.
History in the Making
TWU’s Eta Nu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta
History Honor Society continues its proud
tradition of publishing Ibid: A Student
History Journal. Now in its 17th volume, the
journal features research of current history
students, highlighting TWU’s commitment to
scholarship and student voice.
Across every discipline, TWU students are
fueling innovation — transforming curiosity
into knowledge, and knowledge into impact.
Stories of Excellence
Kennedy Center Honors Theatre Students
In 2025, TWU’s Division of Theatre earned national recognition
from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival
for its acclaimed production of “The Seagull.” This honor
reflects the creativity, discipline, and talent nurtured in
TWU’s School of Arts and Design — where students gain
professional-caliber experience both on stage and behind the
scenes.
Science Students Lead Water Education for Kids
In an interactive outreach initiative, TWU students from
chemistry, environmental science, nursing, and aeronautical
sciences taught local second graders about the urban
water cycle. Through creative activities, students promoted
environmental awareness while inspiring the next generation
of learners — demonstrating how science and service go
hand in hand.
