What does it mean to be a first-generation

student? If your parents or guardians do not have

a bachelor’s degree, you are first-gen.

In other words, you are breaking barriers for

your entire family.

Center for

First-Generation Students

We know navigating the admissions process,

financial aid applications and adjusting to

college can be confusing and difficult, especially

for first-gen students. This center fosters a sense

of community, support and inclusion for all

students through resources and events tailored to

the needs of first-gen students.

We will assist with your TWU application, the Free

Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the

Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA),

and scholarship applications. Mentoring programs

also are available to help you make connections,

navigate college and jump start your career.

The GO Center

The GO Program provides support and resources

to all students but especially economically

disadvantaged and first-generation students.

Visit a GO Center location for personalized

support and assistance completing the FAFSA,

TASFA, and the ApplyTexas application to TWU.
