GREETINGS

Dear Prospective Head of School WCCS Candidate,

For more than 30 years, Westminster Catawba Christian School has remained steadfast in

its mission to partner with Christian families in preparing young people to impact the world

for Christ. As we look ahead, WCCS seeks a Head of School who can provide strong spiritual

leadership, relational wisdom, and strategic clarity to guide our community into its next

chapter.

This transition follows the departure of former Head of School Scott Dillon, who has begun

a new season of service elsewhere. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and for the

stability, faithfulness, and growth he provided our school over his twelve years of service.

WCCS has retained Dr. William R. Mott as interim Head of School through Spring 2027. A

nationally respected leader in independent and faith-based school governance, Dr. Mott has

served as head of school at four institutions and as a trustee at several others. He holds a

Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Vanderbilt University and has spent more than a decade

consulting with schools nationwide on governance, strategic planning, and leadership.

Because of this steady foundation, WCCS now has a unique opportunity to welcome a leader

who will honor the school’s mission and history while helping the community grow in unity,

excellence, and long-term sustainability.

Within this Opportunity Profile, you will find information about Westminster Catawba

Christian School, our community, and the qualities we are seeking in our next Head of

School. If you feel called to explore this opportunity, we invite you to prayerfully review this

profile and follow the instructions outlined in the Process of Candidacy section. Our search

partners, JobfitMatters Executive Search, are available to answer questions throughout the

process.

Thank you for your interest in Westminster Catawba Christian School. We trust that God will

faithfully lead the right individual to shepherd and guide the WCCS community in the years

ahead.

Sincerely,

Shaun Barnes

Chair, Board of Trustees Westminster Catawba Christian School

OVERVIEW

Westminster Catawba Christian School (WCCS) is a Christ-centered, college-preparatory

school serving approximately 819 students from Early Childhood through 12th grade in

Rock Hill, South Carolina. As a ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA), WCCS

partners with Christian families to provide an education grounded in biblical truth, academic

excellence, and the holistic formation of each student. The school has experienced steady

enrollment growth in recent years, reflecting strong community confidence and increasing

demand for Christ-centered education in the greater Rock Hill and Charlotte region.

WCCS operates on two campuses located within two miles of each other. The Lower

School campus serves Early Childhood through 5th grade students and is characterized

by a nurturing environment that emphasizes foundational academics, spiritual formation,

and joyful learning. The Upper School campus serves students in grades 6–12 and offers a

rigorous academic program designed to prepare graduates for college, vocation, and faithful

Christian living. Together, the two campuses support a cohesive PreK–12 experience rooted

in shared mission and values.

The school’s commitment to educating the whole child is evident through intentional

biblical integration, strong academic programming, robust arts and athletics offerings,

and a clear emphasis on character and discipleship. Students are encouraged to grow

intellectually, spiritually, socially, and emotionally within a community that values excellence,

accountability, grace, and strong relationships. Faculty and staff are deeply committed to

discipling students and partnering with parents, contributing to a culture marked by care,

dedication, and shared purpose.

Following a season of stability and growth, Westminster Catawba Christian School stands at

an important leadership juncture. Enrollment is strong, finances are stable, and the school is

well-positioned for the future. At the same time, the community is seeking greater clarity and

consistency in key areas, including academic standards, organizational processes, facilities

planning, and long-term strategic direction. While the interim Head of School is advancing

important progress, the next leader will provide sustained direction and forward-looking

vision in these areas. This is a compelling opportunity to build upon a solid foundation,

strengthen a unified sense of purpose, and guide WCCS toward continued excellence and

faithful, long-term sustainability.

VISION & MISSION

VISION STATEMENT

Our vision is to be a grace-filled school community that delivers an excellent, distinctly Christian education empowering students to

discover, serve, and live out their purpose in God’s world as disciples of Jesus Christ.

MISSION & ENDS STATEMENT

As a ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church WPC, WCCS exists to educate students to bless our world as disciples of Jesus

Christ.

MINISTRY OF WPC

• Partner with WPC regarding theological perspective and mission.

• Partner with local evangelical churches to provide Christian education.

• Partner with believing parents to teach their children.

EDUCATE STUDENTS

• Ensure biblically integrated instruction while maintaining high academic standards.

• Support students in developing God-given gifts and personal calling.

• Encourage students to pursue personal excellence.

BLESS OUR WORLD

• Glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

• Love and serve each other within the school family.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Westminster Catawba Christian Academy’s mission is guided by these nine fundamental

statements of faith.

• We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as inspired by God, inerrant

in the original writings, and the supreme authority for faith and life.

• We believe in one God existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal

and eternal.

• We believe that man was created by God and bears His image, that he sinned against

God’s law and thereby incurred physical and spiritual death.

• We believe that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are in need of the

Savior Jesus Christ for God’s reconciliation with them.

• We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and

is the one true God.

• We believe that Jesus Christ died for the sins of His people, according to the Scriptures,

as a voluntary representative and substitutionary sacrifice.

• We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of Jesus Christ, in His ascension into

Heaven, and His personal and visible return to this earth.

• We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the

Holy Spirit; become children of God; are indwelt by the Holy Spirit; progressively become

more Christ-like in thought, word, and action; and are eternally secure.

• We believe in the bodily resurrection of all persons, judgment to come, the everlasting

blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

HISTORY

In 1968 The Catawba School was founded by a group of local businessmen and parents in

the Rock Hill area. The school provided college preparatory instruction in a small school

environment with the Christian faith reflected in its school policies and practices. It was

accredited by both the South Carolina Independent School Association and the Southern

Association of Colleges and Schools.

Westminster Christian School was founded in 1978 as a ministry of Westminster Presbyterian

Church (WPC) with the establishment of preschool classes. Kindergarten was added to the

school in 1979 with the grade school program beginning in 1981. The school graduated its

first sixth grade class in 1985. The school offered students an excellent academic education

that was grounded in the Word of God.

In February 1993, the School Boards of both Westminster Christian School and The

Catawba School agreed to merge these uniquely different, yet similar, institutions and

form Westminster Catawba Christian School (WCCS). WCCS continues to be a ministry of

Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA - Presbyterian Church of America). It serves students

on two campuses, a lower school campus and upper school campus, located within 2 miles of

each other. The lower school campus is located on the grounds of Westminster Presbyterian

Church and serves students from Pre-K – 5th grade. The upper school campus is located on

the campus of the former Catawba School and serves 6th – 12th grade students.

Over time, WCCS has remained committed to providing an education grounded in biblical

truth while adapting to the needs of students and families in a changing cultural and

educational landscape.

Shorter Catechisms as containing the system of doctrine taught in the Holy

Matthew 18 when disagreement arises.

GOALS

Following a period of steady growth, the school is near capacity across both campuses, and

key decisions about facilities and long-term enrollment are on the horizon. The Board’s most

recent Strategic Roadmap identified three interconnected areas of focus for the school's

near- and long-term development:

1. Mission Fortification, which requires spiritual strengthening across all areas of school

life.

2. Facilities and Space Planning, which includes the development and implementation

of a Comprehensive Facilities Plan for the next 10-15 years.

3. Budget and Financial Planning, which outlines the financial means to support WCCS's

long-term goals.

Building on this foundation, the Board has identified the following markers of success within

the next 5 years. WCCS will have:

• Established a robust spiritual culture throughout the school, with faith clearly

integrated into every aspect of school life.

• Cultivated a unified school community among parents, faculty, staff, and board

members.

• Strengthened academic programming through a commitment to rigorous, Christcentered

instruction and measurable student outcomes.

• Established a rolling 5-year financial plan and multi-year budget to sustain WCCS's

fiscal health, including proactively addressing the impact of growth, facility needs, and

operational expenses.

• Established clear academic and behavioral standards that reflect the school's

commitment to excellence across both campuses.

• Developed a thoughtfully revised strategic plan addressing enrollment, staffing,

facilities, and finances.

• Improved faculty support, professional development, and retention.

• Led a capital campaign to accommodate WCCS's facilities needs for the next generation

of students.

• Fostered a shared school identity marked by joy, clarity, and purpose.

To prepare WCCS for its next permanent Head of School, the Board has appointed a highly

experienced interim leader who is focused on aligning operations and deepening the school's

missional focus. The next permanent Head will find a school ready for its next chapter and

excited about the leader who will help define it.
